12-year-old killed in accident in Dodge County

At 3:59 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center took reports of a traffic crash involving a pickup truck and a motorized dirt bike on County Trunk Highway NN near N. Tyler Road in the Township of Rubicon, about 1-mile east of the Village of Neosho.
The pickup truck was westbound on CTH NN and operated by a 34-year-old Neosho man. The motorized dirt bike was operated by a 12-year-old rural Neosho boy and was crossing the roadway in that area when the collision occurred.

 

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup did not report any injuries.

 

The operator of the dirt bike was not wearing a helmet.
The crash is under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Crash Investigation Team. Assisting at the scene were the Neosho First Responders and Fire Department, Hartford EMS and Fire Department, Flight for Life, DCERT, and the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain.

 
Identities of involved persons will not be released until Monday, May 23, 2016.
