Letter to the Editor: Balanced coverage for School Board race. By Tim Schmidt

April 2, 2017 – West Bend, WI – As the owner of Delta Defense, I have seen close up the political machine of special interests and personal agenda. When my wife, Tonnie, shared her intentions of running for school board I was thrilled by her dedication to take a stand and remove politics from the equation by focusing on a nonpartisan race for a nonpartisan office. I know that the voice of one person can change the world, my faith in that dictum resonates as strongly as my faith in the American dream. Tonnie’s commitment to quality education has been a lifelong passion and I commend her and her fellow candidates for taking on this challenge.
In order to ensure that our tax dollars are spent wisely and the voices of experts are heard, we must elect a board that puts personal agenda aside and is dedicated to that mission. Joel Ongert and Nancy Justman are both individuals who will join Tonnie in raising expectations, restoring excellence and demanding accountability through transparency. Although we just met Joel and Nancy a few months ago, I can soundly attest to their character, integrity and passion for quality education.

I ask that you please exercise your right to vote and support Tonnie, Joel and Nancy as you head to the polls on Tuesday. There is no greater process to be a part of and we have a responsibility to the students, taxpayers and community to support our public school system by electing quality leadership.

Join me in electing school board members who have demonstrated their positive commitment to strengthening our schools, our community and our kids. We are proud of West Bend, let’s ensure our children will be too.
