Tracy Morales-Diaz and Jenny Schier honored with St. Joseph’s Hospital Annual Nursing Award

March 4, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Tracy Morales-Diaz of Kewaskum, and Jenny Schier of West Bend have been honored with the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin St. Joseph’s Hospital annual Excellence in Nursing Award and Excellence in Nursing Support Personnel Award.

Morales-Diaz works as a registered nurse in the Kraemer Cancer Center, and Schier as a certified nursing assistant on the Medical/Surgical Unit.

“Tracy has been involved in many initiatives to improve the care and comforts for patients, including acquisitions of new technologies and adoption of beneficial procedures,” said nominator Martina Hartwell Kraemer Cancer Center RN.

“She is so appreciated by her patients and co-workers not only for what she does but how she does it. She gives patients hope and comfort and encourages the best in her co-workers. She does all of this not because it is asked of her, but because she is driven to provide the best care possible, with an attitude that inspires others to do the same.”

The Excellence in Nursing Award recognizes the outstanding skills and contributions of individual members of the hospitals’ nursing staff. Candidates for the award have demonstrated excellence in their area of practice and in the delivery of quality care to patients and their families. They role-model teamwork and demonstrate leadership skills that positively influence patient care.

The Excellence in Nursing Support Personnel Award is designed to recognize the outstanding skills and contributions of individual members of the hospital’s nursing support personnel. The award provides an opportunity to celebrate the special care and important work of support personnel.

“When I have Jenny as my tech, I am 100-percent confident that my patients are well taken care of, have all of their needs met and we will have a great day,” said nominator Amy Seebantz about Schier.

“Jenny is often a preceptor to new staff. She shows new staff not only the basics of the job, but also demonstrates professionalism, confidence, positive attitude, thoroughness, and is a team player. She is a positive person. I have never heard a bad, negative sentence from Jenny. She has a beautiful, infectious smile that brightens up the room. I have had patients comment to me how ‘Jenny is always smiling,’ and that is so true. She could be having a bad day and her co-workers would never suspect it.”
