A love story in Barton | By Jeff Slais

June 11, 2017 – Barton, WI – It was a cool brisk morning.  Hank was on a journey to the tournament through the rolling hills of the Kettle Moraine.

He came to a clearing in the woods where the sun was just breaking through and daylight shone off the spires of a church on a hill.  He felt as if they were calling him in as if to say ‘take time, slow down.’

On his walk into the grounds, he saw that the church was a Basilica.  He was overwhelmed by the simplistic beauty, the peace and tranquility of Holy Hill.

A Friar walking the grounds approached Hank and said, “I see you are headed for the tournament – good luck!”  Hank told him he had been as nervous as a cat but felt a calm as soon as he came here.

The Friar said, “Yes, Holy Hill has that affect on people.”

As Hank turned to continue on his journey, he heard the Friar say, “Just remember, Hank – no matter what course you play in life, always aim for the steeples….they will show you the way.”
