August 28, 2019 – Richfield, WI – On August 28, construction crews reopened access along WIS 167 (Holy Hill Road), including east/west access through the newly completed roundabout at the intersection of WIS 164 and WIS 167 in Washington County.
Motorists are now able to head east and west along WIS 167 across WIS 164.
The Department of Transportation said “completing this work before Labor Day helps alleviate traffic impacts to the adjacent Friess Lake School.”
Remaining Work
WIS 164, both north of the entrance to Friess Lake School and south of WIS 167, remains closed to all but local traffic. By mid-September, WIS 164 south of WIS 167 is scheduled to be complete and reopened. The seven-mile rehabilitation of WIS 164 is scheduled for completion in October.

IMPROVEMENTS
The project will improve approximately 7.5-miles of roadway in the village of Richfield and the town of Polk. It includes roadway rehabilitation, reconstruction of five spot-locations to improve sight distance, and the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of WIS 164 and WIS 167.
Spot locations that will be reconstructed to flatten roadway grades and improve sight distances consist of:
- Shady Lane
- Monches Road
- Hubertus Road
- WIS 167
- Pleasant Hill Road
Also, as part of this project, the two existing Shady Lane connections to WIS 164 will be removed and Shady Lane will be extended to the north to connect to Hanson Drive where drivers will be able to access WIS 164.
The proposed improvements will address safety concerns along the length of the corridor by updating the highway to current design standards, improving traffic operations at several key locations, and enhancing mobility.
