Car versus bike accident in neighboring Dodge County

June 27, 2017 – Beaver Dam Township, WI – On 06-27-17 at 3:22 pm, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle versus bicycle crash on CTH S at the intersection with S. Center Road in the Township of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Preliminary investigation shows that Larry Bilke (67, Beaver Dam) was operating a bicycle east on CTH S approaching the intersection with S. Center Road.  Jeffrey Ziehme (59, Juneau) was operating a 2016 Kenworth truck east on CTH S approaching the intersection with S. Center Road.  The bicycle initiated a left/north turn onto S. Center Road and the truck swerved to the left/north in an attempt to avoid a collision with the bicycle.  The right side of the Kenworth struck the bicycle, causing Bilke to be ejected.

Bilke was transported to Beaver Dam Hospital and then transferred by ambulance to UW Hospital in Madison.  Ziehme was uninjured in the crash.

Assisting at the scene was:  Beaver Dam Police, Beaver Dam Fire Department and Paramedics.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
