City of West Bend receives its first Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

June 20, 2018 – West Bend, WI – The City of West Bend has received its first Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2018 Operating Budget.

This award represents a significant achievement for the City of West Bend. In order to receive this budget award, the City of West Bend’s budget presentation had to fulfill nationally recognized guidelines in the following areas:

ď‚· A policy document
ď‚· A financial plan
ď‚· An operations guide
ď‚· A communications device

The City of West Bend’s Operating Budget had to be rated “proficient” in all four of the above categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

The City is one of only 38 current recipients in the State of Wisconsin that have earned this award.

There are over 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on GFOA’s website.

“Congratulations to City staff for earning this GFOA Budget award. The City Council and I are proud of the positive course of our overall financial position. Special thanks to Carrie Winklbauer and Amy Miller in our Finance Department for taking the initiative to apply for this award.” Kraig Sadownikow, Mayor

“I would like to thank the Government Finance Officers Association for recognizing the diligence and determination it took to transform the Operating Budget and earn the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. It has been a goal to earn the award for the City of West Bend and add the City to the notable list of recipients in the State of Wisconsin.”  Carrie Winklbauer, Finance Administrator
