Fatal accident in neighboring Dodge County

 

May 17, 2017 – Dodge Co., WI – One person was killed in neighboring Dodge County after a semi struck a vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 67. The driver of the car, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Freightliner semi burst into flames after it left the road and struck several trees.

The driver of the semi, a 52-year-old woman was transported to Aurora Hospital in Summit with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident happened at 8:32 a.m. on State Highway 67 at the intersection with Town Road MM, in the Township of Ashippun.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2002 Pontiac (operated by an unidentified male) was traveling west on Town Road MM approaching the intersection with Sth 67 (this direction of travel is controlled by a posted stop sign at the intersection).

A 2016 Freightliner semi with box trailer was traveling north on Sth 67, approaching the intersection with Town Road MM.   The Pontiac entered the intersection and was struck by the semi.

Names of people involved in the traffic crash are being withheld pending family notification.

Assisting at the scene was:  Wisconsin State Patrol, Ashippun Fire and 1st Responders, Neosho and Hustisford Fire Departments, Lebanon EMS and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
