Flag etiquette for the July 4 parade

June 30, 2018 – Washington Co., WI – Neighbors across Washington County are being asked to stand and remove their hats when the U.S. flag passes at the start of Fourth of July parades.

According to the National Archives: The Fourth of July is the date the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence—the day the founders approved one of America’s most treasured documents. What we are truly celebrating on Independence Day is the Declaration of Independence and the spirit and principles that it so eloquently articulates.

Today’s 1924 history photo is of an American Legion parade.

The picture was donated to the Kewaskum Historical Society by the James Andre family.

West Bend’s Fourth of July Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. from Main and Oak Street.

Can you identify the intersection in the photo?
