Tom Scherg of Fond du Lac will be taking the Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight from the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh to the nation’s capitol with other Vietnam veterans on Friday, July 29.
The first Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight for Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans was in 2013. The group will leave the EAA in the morning and return after the air show. Scherg was a marine who served in Fox Company, a ground unit, for two years.
His daughter Angie Blamey said he’s happy to have the Honor Flight opportunity. She said it will be one very special day for him.
Scherg was wounded four times and received three Purple Heart medals. Â
