Former Green Bay Packer Donald Driver coming to a school in Washington County

May 16, 2019 – West Bend, WI – Former Green Bay Packer Donald Driver will be paying a visit to students in West Bend.

The all-time leading wide receiver for the green and gold is working in cooperation with Goodwill on an annual Pack’er Up Donation Challenge.

This year’s event encouraged families to:

Clean out your closets and go to any participating Goodwill Store & Donation Center between Monday, April 1 and  Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Simply indicate your school name, city and number of items donated on the slip provided to you by the Goodwill Donation Attendant, and the school with the greatest number of items donated will receive a visit from Donald Driver. Open to elementary and middle schools in the southeastern Wisconsin territory only.

The final numbers are in and the posted winning school is below.

Holy Angels School

Holy Angels principal Mike Sternig confirmed Driver will be coming to school on Monday, May 20 at 10 a.m.

The students are excited and it’s been said “it’s the worst kept secret in West Bend.”

Donald Driver is a spokesman for Goodwill. During past school visits in Wisconsin the Packer Hall of Famer reads to students from one of the three children’s books he’s written.

Driver played for the Packers for 14 years and later took home the trophy on Dancing with the Stars.

DONATION CHALLENGE

What: Goodwill’s Pack’er Up Donation Challenge ended on April 30 with 685 schools participating and Holy Angels of West Bend winning a visit from the Green Bay Packer’s all-time leading receiver and Super Bowl Champion Donald Driver. The schools and communities really rallied around the Pack’er Up promotion this year; the second place school was last years winning school Pewaukee Lake Elementary and third place went to Shady Lane Elementary School of Menomonee Falls. All participating schools donated a total of nearly one million items in 2019 – AMAZING!

“The West Bend community really pulled together and accomplished an amazing end-prize for their children. This community really loves Donald Driver!” said Pat Boelter, chief marketing officer, Goodwill.

When: Holy Angels is hosting a special assembly for the students on Monday, May 20 starting at 10 a.m.  This is an event for students only; not a public event.

Why: Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin sees this donation challenge as a way for the organization to publicize its commitment to the environment (April was Earth Month) through reusing, reducing and recycling, and do so with a promotion that is fun and
