Four Wisconsin firefighter to be remembered at National Fallen Firefighters Memorial | By Ron Naab

October 5, 2019 – The 38th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial will be held this weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The event will honor the 92 firefighters who died as a victim of a line-of-duty death in 2018 along with 27 others that passed away in previous years as a result of a line-of-duty death.

These heroes will be remembers at two very special services this weekend, the first is a Candlelight Service on Saturday the October 5.  A bronze plaque with the names of the fallen being honored will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

On Sunday at 10 a.m. (ET) approximately 5,000 people, including families, friends, members of Congress, government officials and firefighters are expected to attend the memorial service.

“Leaders and members of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus launched the memorial weekend events with a presentation of 119 flags during a brief ceremony held at the Rayburn Building in Washington, DC on September 17, 2019. The flags are flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of each fallen firefighter and will be displayed in the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Chapel until they are presented to family members during Sunday’s Memorial Service,” according National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

To watch the live services click HERE.  Live broadcast will include the Candlelight Service on Saturday, 6:00 to 7:30 pm EDT and the Sunday Memorial Service will be 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon EDT.

There will be four individuals from Wisconsin honored:

Firefighter/Paramedic Richard Garner of the Madison Fire Department, died at the age of 29

Captain Cory Barr of the Sun Prairie Fire Department, died at the age of 34

Firefighter Philip Neubich Sr. of the Spooner Fire District, died at the age of 69

Captain Christopher Truman of the Lake Mills Fire Department, died at age of 46
