Friends of West Bend Park & Rec make strong donation to be used for summer softball at Regner Park.

May 19, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Friends of West Bend Parks has donated $1,000 to the West Bend Recreation Department for its summer softball leagues.

“Every dollar we raise goes back into Regner Park,” said Mike Staral.

Friends of West Bend Parks are also painting the buildings at the hardball diamond concession at Regner Park.

Over the years Friends of West Bend Parks have put thousands of dollars back into the community.

The group is involved in numerous local summer events including German Night at Regner Park, Regnerfest, and the Dirty Ninja Mud Run. Friends of West Bend Parks will also be volunteering at the U.S. Open at Erin Hills in June.

“Friends helps the Recreation Department tremendously,” said Park and Rec director Nick Lemke. “This particular donation will be used to help buy jerseys and helmets for the slow pitch softball league.”

There are 12 teams with about 150 kids set to play in the summer league which starts June 12.

On a side note: The Regner Park pond will open for swimming on June 9.
