Hail expected during strong storms in neighboring Fond du Lac County

 

Sept. 20, 2017 – Washington Co., WI – If you were out this evening you saw the brilliant pink skies to the west and some moderately strong lightning to the north. The National Weather Service is calling for a strong line of thunderstorms to affect northwestern Fond du Lac County.

At 830 PM CDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Princeton, or 15 miles southwest of Berlin, moving northeast at 45 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include… Ripon, Berlin, Markesan, Princeton, Green Lake, Kingston, Marquette, Dalton and West Rosendale.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
