Hartford men arrested – reports of shots fired in air

On Thursday, March 17 at 6:59 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s responded to a bar at 5869 Franklin Drive in the Town of Hartford for a report of a disturbance involving two patrons that were asked to leave the establishment by management.

As the subjects were leaving, one of the patrons retrieved a handgun from the vehicle and shot four rounds into the air in the parking lot. He also mentioned he was coming back with his pistol.

The dispatch center stayed online with the caller and was able to obtain a partial description of the suspect vehicle as it fled the area.

That description was immediately relayed to area squads including the Hartford Police Department.

A patrol officer from the Hartford Police Department subsequently located the vehicle on Branch Street and a high risk traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in cooperation with the Hartford Police and Sheriff’s Deputies.

The driver, a 23-year-old Hartford man, was arrested for  OWI second offense after he failed filed sobriety testing. He was also arrested for disorderly conduct for the incident at the bar.

The passenger, a 22-year-old Hartford man, was arrested for disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct while armed and intoxicated use of a firearm.  The handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
