Hartford Rotary Students of the Month for January | By Jana Danay

Jan. 29, 2018 – Hartford, WI-The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce that Taylor Bever and Kaitlin Kahn were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month. The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of January.

Taylor Bever is the daughter of Craig and Dawn Bever. Bever is very active in the FBLA (Future Business Leaders Of America) organization at HUHS. Through FBLA, Bever has had the opportunity to participate in conferences, competitions, and other volunteer activities. Bever participates in the Co-op/Youth apprentice program at Hartford. Through this program, she works in the school store known as the Birdhouse. Bever has several responsibilities in the Birdhouse such as: order new apparel/inventory, serve the students, and complete weekly deposits.

In her free time, Bever volunteers at the Aurora Medical Center of Washington County. Last year, she volunteered in the gift shop. This year, she is helping out with a variety of small jobs as they come up. Through FBLA, Bever has volunteered her time as a bell ringer at Walmart to help raise money for the Salvation Army.

After graduation from Hartford Union High School, Bever plans to pursue a career in Business or as an Administrative Professional. She has been accepted to attend UW-Whitewater, UW-Washington County, and Moraine Park Technical College but is still deciding which school will be her best option.


Kaitlin Kahn is the daughter of RJ and Julie Kahn. Kahn is a member of the National Honor Society, the Math Club, the Concert Choir, and the Fall Musical performed at the Schauer Arts and Activities Center. In previous years, Kahn was also active in Student Council, the Hartford Chronicle, FBLA/DECA, and the Spring Play.

 

Kahn has received several Tommy Nominations for musical performance. She received a lead performance nomination for her role as Marie in Cinderella last fall and a supporting nomination for her role as Mrs. Corry in Mary Poppins during her junior year. During her junior year, Kahn placed third in Humorous Feature Writing at the NEWSPA competition.

 

 

 

 

Kahn has given back to her community by volunteering her time as a summer camp counselor at Camp Kidsbrook, serving meals for the homeless at Harvest House, participating on a mission trip to Vicosa, Brazil, and assisting fellow students in the Writing Center at Hartford Union High School. Kahn has been playing piano for the past 12 years and utilizes her skills as a student leader and member of the Worship Team at Northbrook Church.

After graduation from Hartford Union High School, Kahn plans to attend North Central University in Minneapolis, MN to earn her Baccalaureate Degree in Elementary Education (K-6)/Communication Arts & Literature (5-8).
