There’s a colorful display of sidewalk chalk art between Kohl’s Department Store and Hobby Lobby on S. Main Street in West Bend.

More than 70 students participated in the event organized by the West Bend School District.

Students had from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to channel their innermost van Gogh.

Odessa Dalton, 14,  an 8th grader at Badger Middle School, was sporting black hands from a days hard work. “It is quite messy,” said Dalton.  “Sometimes if you accidentally blow on your artwork you’ll have to do it over but it’s still fun.”IMG_9396

Jada Kalies, 13, at Badger Middle School, was covered in black chalk.  “We were shading different colors and we needed some place to wipe it and our clothes were all full of chalk so I just went to my face,” she said.

Chalk art varied from recognizable Disney characters, self portraits, to some who were inspired by J. K. Rowling.
