Kettle Moraine Lutheran edges University School of Milwaukee. By Rhaea Lehman

May 8, 2017 – Jackson, WI – Kettle Moraine Lutheran’s soccer game against University School of Milwaukee Monday evening was filled with suspense.

University School and Kettle’s strong play seemed to equal each other as both teams pushed hard to get a goal.

It took a shot from inside the half-field line from Kettle defensive midfielder Abigail Washburn to get a score up on the board.

Her powerful kick was just in time too, because there were less than five minutes remaining in the game.

Kettle beat University School 1-0.

“We were all tired and sluggish,” Washburn said. “Everyone didn’t know what was gonna happen and after I scored the energy went from low to really high. Beating USM is always a big opportunity.”

Washburn believes the University School game showed that “… we are capable of winning games, we just have to have the right mindset and work as a team.”

Kettle’s next game is Tuesday, May 9 against Waupun.
