Last day for leaf pickup in West Bend and Hartford is December 1

West Bend, WI – The City of West Bend Public Works has had a challenging season with leaf collection. Because the Mother Nature has been unpredictable neighbors can still rake their leaves into the street until December 1.

Citizens are reminded that leaves are to be placed into the street gutter area for collection.  Bags of leaves will not be collected and crews will not remove leaves from the area between the sidewalk and curb.  Do not mix leaves with branches! 

Pumpkin Collection:  DO NOT PLACE PUMPKINS IN THE GARBAGE!  Pumpkins may be placed into the street gutter area for collection along with leaves.

Lawn and Garden Waste:DO NOT PLACE IN GARBAGE!Residents who choose to bring their leaves or other organic materials to the City of West Bend Drop-off, located at 251 Municipal Drive, may do so during the following scheduled hours:

Before November 15:      Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.                                                                                                                Tuesday/Thursday 7 a.m. – Sunset

After November 15:        Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

March – November         Saturday 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (every Saturday)

December – February      Saturday 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (second & last Saturday)

Note:  A 2019 Permit Sticker is required to enter the yard.  Permit Stickers may be purchased for $20 from the Department of Public Works during business hours.  A current vehicle registration and driver’s license are required to purchase a sticker.  Stickers are valid for one calendar year (January 1-December 31).

In Hartford, city administrator Steve Volkert said if weather permits the city will attempt to pick up brush routes until the first week of December and be coming around again for any last minute leaf piles before December 1. After that date, residents need to bag their leaves and bring to the recycling center behind the City garage on the corner of Wacker and Sumner during designated times.
