Letter to the Editor: Following up on felony theft charges involving Hartford Youth Football | By Jim Sedlachek

Nov. 30, 2017 – Hartford, WI – On Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 Hartford Youth Footballs former club treasurer Kelly O’Connel pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to a felony charge of theft of more than $10,000 in a corporate setting.

This is part of a plea bargain struck between the Washington County District Attorneys Office and Mrs. O’Connel.  Nothing is finalized as of yet.

There is going to be a sentencing hearing Jan. 8, 2018 to finalize her sentence.  As a part of that hearing there will be a restitution hearing as well.

Hartford Youth Football has the responsibility to prove how much Mrs. O’Connel actually took.  We have supplied the District Attorney’s Office with documentation of fraudulent transactions and feel confident based on the criteria we used to identify those transactions.

We would like to thank the Hartford Police Department and Detective Thickens for his hard work in putting this case together.  We would like to also thank everyone in the Washington County District Attorney’s office who handled this case.

There are those in the community who felt this process took too long, Hartford Youth Football never lost faith in the system.  We are very optimistic for a great outcome on January 8.  How things proceed after that will be another learning process

Thank you to everyone in our great community for all your support.  We could not ask to be a part of a better community.

Jim Sedlachek

Hartford Youth Football President
