Man rescued after falling through ice on Big Cedar Lake

March 12, 2018 – Big Cedar Lake, WI – On Sunday, March 11 at 6:25 p.m. a 68-year-old Town of West Bend man fell through the ice on Big Cedar Lake while taking his dog for a walk.

A nearby resident saw the incident unfold and contacted 911. The incident occurred near Penny Island on the north part of Big Cedar Lake in about 5 feet of water.

Several neighbors went out to the scene with ladders and a canoe and were able to assist the man and his dog to the shore before rescue units arrived.

The Washington County Dive Team was also activated as a proactive measure but subsequently cancelled.

The man was in the water for about 14 minutes but was treated and released.
