MC Sports in West Bend is closing – sad trend continues; here’s a list of other stores closing in Washington Co.

 

Feb. 17, 2017 – West Bend, WI – MC Sports in West Bend is closing. Staff received word this week. The store on Paradise Drive has been open since November 1999.

The corporate store in Michigan sent out a press release citing a number of issues including bankruptcy, which was filed Feb. 14, 2017.

The store is beginning liquidation sales. There is currently 10% off store merchandise.

According to a company statement it was “unable to reach an agreement on a viable out of court proposal” to restructure its balance sheet and operating performance.

Court filings show MC Sports has millions in trade debt and millions owed to companies like Under Armour and Nike with thousands owed to Adidas Group, Columbia Sportswear and Wilson Team Sports, and others.

A company statement said MC Sports operates 68 stores in seven states.

MC Sports in West Bend is not the only store closing.

On a positive note – there’s quite a bit of traffic looking at the former Long Branch Saloon in Barton, a new business is opening in the former Benders on Paradise Drive and there is someone moving into Ann Marie’s building on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Main Street in West Bend.

  1. Like they say, “one door closes, another opens”. Works that way for stores too. Too bad about MC Sports – West Bend location seemed to be busy enough – sounds like the corporation can not survive.
