Motorist arrested for 6th offense OWI and man accused of grocery scam arrested for attempted burglary

Sept. 15, 2017 – West Bend, WI – On Sept. 13 2017, at 1:39 p.m., a citizen reported observing a driver of a vehicle at University Mobil, 2333 W. Washington Street, with an open container of alcohol.

West Bend Police made contact with the driver, a 55-year-old West Bend male, and noticed signs of intoxication.

The driver failed the standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for OWI 6th Offense.

The man was also charged with bail jumping because he had criminal cases of OWI 5th Offense, Disorderly Conduct and bail jumping pending in Washington County Circuit Court.

 

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY – 2021 W. Washington St. Cigarette Outlet


On Saturday Sept. 9, 2017 at 9:35 a.m., an employee of the Cigarette Outlet at 2021 W. Washington St., arrived to work and found pry marks on the door. The employee called West Bend Police and investigating officers found the suspect also cut wires in the back of the business.

Investigators found a backpack with tools and clothing hidden near the building.

Investigators identified a 19-year-old West Bend man as the owner of the backpack.

On Tuesday Sept. 12, 2017, detectives arrested the 19 year old for Attempted Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools and Criminal Damage to Property.

The 19 year old is presently in custody at the Washington County Jail.
