Numerous vehicles broken into at Camp Minikani

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate five complaints of vehicle break ins at Camp Minikani on Tuesday, July 26. All vehicles had forced entry and purses and other miscellaneous items were taken.  All vehicle are believed to belong to camp counselors. Deputies are continuing to investigate.

 Vehicle pursuit.

A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol locates a vehicle speeding south bound on US 45 at 90MPH at 2:55am this morning. As the deputy is trying to catch up to it, the vehicle darks out (turns off headlights) and exits at Highway 60 and flees west bound.

The deputy initiates a pursuit on Hwy 60 and the driver, later identified as a 31-year-old Milwaukee man, continues to try to elude by excessive speed and turning off his headlights.

The driver eventually stops on Hillside Road south of Hwy 60 after realizing it was a dead-end road.  The driver, who has a valid driver’s license, was operating a rental car from Milwaukee. The driver was arrested for felony eluding where he remains in custody at the jail.

At the time of his arrest he was on lengthy probation restrictions including not possessing over $100 in cash on his person due to previous drug convictions.  At the time of his arrest he had $957 on his person and may also face additional bail jumping charges.
