Obit: Alan Willard Weeden, 85, West Bend

Alan Willard Weeden, age 85, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his residence while being cared for by his family with the assistance of Cedar Lake Hospice.   He was born on September 26, 1930 in the township of Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Clark and Catherine (nee Behrens) Weeden.  On May 9, 1959, he was united in marriage to LaVerne Kempf at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend.

While growing up in the town of Sheboygan on his parent’s farm, Alan attended grade school and high school at Kohler graduating in 1948.   He joined the US Army in September of 1948 and served until 1951 spending most of his term in Salzburg, Austria as a Tab Machine Operator.

He moved to West Bend in 1953 working at the West Bend Aluminum Co. as a main frame computer operator.  He retired after 42 years in 1995 and volunteered at the West Bend Food Pantry. His hobbies were bowling and watching sports on TV.  Alan also loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed visiting with friends at the VFW Hall.

Survivors include his children, Jean (Steve) Yahr or Kewaskum, Susan (Ted) Salter of West Bend, Glenn Weeden of Madison, and Michael (Jenny) Weeden or Brown Deer; his grandchildren, Stephanie Yahr of West Bend, Garrett Yahr of Milwaukee, Kaitlyn and Kimberly Salter of West Bend, and Michael, Emily and Emory Weeden of Brown Deer; brothers-in-law, Donald (Judy) Kempf and Daniel (Marilee) Kempf of West Bend; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Roger) Kudek  and Marilyn Kempf of West Bend; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaVerne, in 1985; his brother-in-law, Gerald Kempf; his siblings and their spouses, Dorothy (Emil) Moioffer, Eugene (Mary Ann) Weeden, Margaret (Arthur) Abraham, Jim Weeden, Clark (Joanne) Weeden, Myra (Elmer) Moehring, and Carita (Lawrence) Stone.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alan will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 12 pm at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (1610 Monroe St. West Bend, WI 53090).  Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of mass at noon.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Forest View Rd. in the town of Barton.

Memorials to St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to the Full Shelf Food Pantry would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Tony’s arrangements.
