Longtime MPTC board member dies: Carl E. Plaum, 89, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk, with his family at his side.


Carl was born on April 9, 1926, the son of the late Elmer and Hildegard (Schulz) Plaum. On November 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Jeannette Mueller at St. John of God Catholic Church in the Town of Farmington.

Carl was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He grew up farming on his family’s farm and later bought his own farm with Jeannette. He went on to work for Regal Ware for nearly 40 years. After retiring from Regal Ware for two years he was employed by Tom’s Mill Work in Ashford as a wood worker for 10 years.

Carl was active in Moraine Park Technical College on the board of directors for over 20 years. Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in August of 1947.

He enjoyed dancing, spending time with family, socializing with friends, playing cards, and had a deep love for his family, his grandchildren and the Lord. He shared the love of Jesus Christ as evidenced by his own walk. Carl will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him.

Those Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Jeannette; two daughters, Chris Plaum of Slinger and Val (Ken) Bauer of Hubertus; four granddaughters, Ashley Hollowell, Lauren (Stetson) Schmitt, Heather Bauer and Bryanna Bauer; a sister, Carol (Donald) Voeks of Silver Creek; two sisters-in-law, Alice Stahl of Lomira and Margaret Mueller of Sheboygan; special family members, Joy and Gerry Zeidler of Boltonville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a sister, Marion (Richard) Geib; two brothers-in-law, John Stahl and Norbert Mueller; two nephews, Robert Stahl and Don Voeks Jr.; his father-in-law, Eugene Mueller; his step father-in-law, Harold Federer; his mother-in-law, Henrietta Mueller Federer; and a niece-in-law, Jackie Stahl.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in the Town of Kewaskum with Rev. Edwin Kornath officiating.

Carl’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Robert G. Romaine American Legion or to the charity of your choice is appreciated.
