Obit: Edward Bartel, 98, West Bend

Oct. 25, 2016 – West Bend, WI – Edward A. Bartel, 98, of West Bend, joined his wife Rosiebar on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at The Cottages at Cedar Run, West Bend.

He was born on September 17, 1918 in Wautoma to the late Julius and Olga (nee Podoll) Bartel. He graduated from Wautoma High School. In 1942 he graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He honorably served in the United States Army during World War II. On April 24, 1948 he was united in marriage to Rose Sparacio in Milwaukee. For over 40 years he worked for the Standard Business Forms Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and the UW Alumni Association. He liked sailing, gardening, traveling, golfing, and fast cars. He had season tickets for the Badgers and enjoyed watching them as well as the Packers. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those Edward leave behind to cherish his memory include his two sons Robert (Jane) Bartel of Lodi and David (Susan) Bartel of Fish Creek; six grandchildren, Joe (Chrissy), Zach (Lydia), Nicole (Luke), Jennifer (Joshua), Jonathan (Tawny), and Nicholas (Nicole); five great-grandchildren, Cale, Jaymes, Jonah, Nico, and David; very special family friend, Delores Sawall; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Rose; two brothers, Henry (Violet) and Harold (Leona); sister, Lorena.

A memorial service in remembrance of Edward will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 Fifth Ave., West Bend.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to Cedar Community (5595 Cty. Rd. Z, West Bend, WI 53095) in Edward name are appreciated.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Cedar Community, The Cottages at Cedar Run, and Cedar Hospice for all their help and care.
