Obit: Elizabeth (Liz) Limbach, 94, of West Bend.

Feb. 14, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Elizabeth (Liz) Limbach, 94, was called to Heaven on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Liz was born on January 28, 1923 in West Bend to August and Caroline (nee Vogt) Ritger. She attended Sacred Heart elementary school in Allenton and graduated in 1940 from St. Mary’s academy in Milwaukee.

Liz married the love of her life, Vernon (Limpy) Limbach in April of 1942.

Liz lived nearly her entire life in Allenton (Big Cedar Lake in the summer), except for a few years spent in California while Limpy was serving his country as a Marine.  The last 10 years Liz resided at Cedar Community in rural West Bend.

Liz is survived by her children, Tom (Sue), John (Kathleen) and Mary Jo Evenson;  Tom’s children – Michael (Christine), Lisa Schwartz and Jed; John’s children – John II (Tammy) and Adam (Jenny); Mary Jo’s children – Tyme and Jessica Evenson, wife and children of  her deceased son, Michael (Betty) – Craig, David and Amy Nowak (Chad); and by a special friend, Nancy Gaenslen. Liz is also survived by several great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews (Whew).

She loved her family very much and will be deeply missed.

Unfortunately, Liz lost her husband when he was age 58, and her son Mike, when he was age 50, both of lung cancer.   Also preceding Liz in death and among the first to greet her in Heaven, were her parents  and siblings – Lorrayne, Raymond (Roy), David, Blanche and Margaret, and her favorite dog, Rin Tin Tin.

Liz was a devoted Catholic and life-long member of Sacred Heart/Resurrection Church in Allenton, as well as the Sacred Heart/ Resurrection Christian Mothers Confraternity.

Liz will always be remembered as the life of the party.  She never met anyone that she didn’t like and was liked by many.

Liz most looked forward to the summer months so she could once again enjoy her beloved Big Cedar Lake cottage, which had been built by her father before she was born.  The cottage was located 3 doors north of Gonring’s Resort, where she spent many weekend nights listening to Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and many other big name bands that played there.  Liz was an avid swimmer and water skier and enjoyed swimming in Cedar Lake well into her 80’s.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Sacred Heart/Resurrection Church in Allenton.  A celebration mass will follow at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cedar Community.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cedar Community Friendship House, Timber Cove and Cedar Community Hospice, for their compassionate and dedicated care.
