Obit: Esther M. Brabender, 98, West Bend

Esther M. Brabender (nee Sanem) age 98 of West Bend died Friday, August 5, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born May 12, 1918 in Fredonia to Joseph and Margaret (nee Thill) Sanem and married Victor J. Brabender on May 25, 1940 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia. Victor preceded her in death on May 15, 1992.

Esther was a very dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long time member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for over 75 years.

Esther is survived by her 3 children: Doris (Steve) Sexton of West Bend, Gary (Lorna) Brabender of West Bend and Vic (Cyndy) Brabender of Kennesaw, GA and 7 grandchildren: Craig (Elizabeth) Ormson, Ashley Sexton, Katie (Travis) Thomas, Dan (Samantha) Brabender, Elly (Trevor) VanBoxel, Sara (Austin) Lockman and Nicole (Matt) Osborn. She is further survived by her 4 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Brody, Dylan and Brynn, her brother Joseph Sanem of West Bend, her sister-in-law Ruth Sanem of Plymouth and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Margaret Sanem, her brother Clarence and her sister-in-law Audrey Sanem.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend with Rev. Patrick Heppe presiding. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, at the church only from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Esther’s family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital who cared for her during the past week – with thanks to Dr. Kaufmann, Dr. Mullin, Dr. Olafsson, Dr. Hofstetter and Dr. Thiel. And thanks to the care givers at the fields for their many years of service and friendship.
