Dale W. Maas, age 92 years old of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Wauwatosa.He was born on March 29, 1923 in Hartford,WI to William and Genevieve (nee Zingsheim) Maas.
Dale was united in marriage to Dorothy Selmikeit on April 15, 1944 at the Sioux Falls Army Air Force Base in South Dakota. Dorothy passed away on June 30, 1981. Dale remarried on June 27, 1982 to Hilda Mertz-Gerber.Dale served his country in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1945. He was a radio operator gunner on a B-17 Bomber.
He had 30 missions in the European Theater. He was a member of the Hartford V.F.W. Post #8834 and the Courtney-Carr- Milner American Legion Post #19. Dale worked at Libby-McNeil-Libby for 42 and one half years, retiring as the Plant Supervisor. Dale was man of generosity. He gave himself to serve as a City of Hartford alderman for 12 years. He was the past president of the Hartford Senior Friends where he was also the chaplain for many years, saying the prayers of farewell to many of his friends. He will be remembered fondly for his outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed dearly.
Dale is survived by his children, Lynn (James) Bobik, Robert (Kathleen) Maas and Allan (Sally) Maas; cherished grandchildren, Christine, Lorri, Geoff, Aaron, David, and Brian; beloved great grandchildren, Emma, Cole, and Olivia. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Dorothy and Hilda; and a grandson, Robert Jr.
Funeral services for Dale will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union Street–Hartford, Wisconsin 53027) with Rev. James Schleif officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  Interment in Old St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
