Obit: Hilmer W. Groth, 87, Jackson

Hilmer W. Groth, age 87 of Jackson died Monday, July 18, 2016 at Ivy Manor in West Bend. He was born July 17, 1929 in Jackson to the late John and Adela (nee IKannenberg) Groth.

Hilmer served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Following his discharge he returned to the farm where he worked his entire life.

He was a 57 year member of the SSgt. Henry F. Gumm Post 483 American Legion and a life-long member of David’s Star Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Hilmer is survived by his 2 brothers, Gerald (Karen) of Jackson and Delwyn of Jackson and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Adela and 2 brothers: Elroy and Orville.

Hilmer’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to Ivy Manor for all the great care given to Hilmer for the past 3 ½ years, Serenity Hospice, Dr. Herdrich and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Michael Woldt of David’s Star Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in David’s Star Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the David’s Star Building Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.
