Obit: Jerry D. Cox Jr., 82,

Dec. 26, 2017 – Slinger, WI – Jerry D. Cox Jr., 82, went home to the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at Kathy Hospice. He was born on June 19, 1935 in Coal Creek, TN to parents Jerry D. Cox, Sr. and Lassie (nee Cox). He proudly served his country in the US Navy.

Jerry was united in marriage on April 27, 1963 to Lucinda Bouray. He retired in 2000 from Earle M. Jorgensen.

In retirement Jerry drove school bus for Rite-Way in Slinger for 11 years.

Jerry enjoyed RV’ing with friends and family for many years, making numerous friends at NASCAR events and snow-birding in Florida. He loved boating on the Mississippi River with friends and family and especially fishing trips with his sons. Jerry was proud to attend classes with his grandson Jake in obtaining their motorcycle license together, allowing him to take trips with his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cindy; two sons, Jeffrey (Christine) and Jerod (Linda); five grandchildren, Callie, Jake and Kaylin Cox; Kimberly (Justin Mueller) Lopas and Stephanie Lopas; one sister, Judy (David) Lyford; sister-in-law, Nancy Dobnick; three nieces, Michelle (Thad) Tegtmeyer, Jennifer (Andrew) Yergler and Denise Hunsche; one nephew, Bradley Lyford; also survived by other relatives and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.

 

Visitation for friends and family at Shimon Funeral Home, (824 Union St., Hartford) Thursday, Dec. 28 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with continued visitation at the Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 29 from 9:30 AM until time of Service at 10:30 AM with Rev. Stephanie Taylor presiding. Committal at Willwood Cemetery, Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to First United Methodist Church, Hartford or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Sue Carlson, staff at CFAC – Froedtert Hospital and Kathy Hospice for their care and support.
