Obit: Lorraine M. Lackas (nee Kaehny), 97, Hartford

Lorraine M. Lackas (nee Kaehny), age 97, of Hartford, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Aster Memory Care in Mequon.

 

Lorraine was born September 22, 1918 in Jackson, Wisconsin to Gertrude (nee Schulteis) and William Kaehny. She married Armond J. Lackas on June 1, 1946 in Richfield at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Lorraine was a longtime member of St. Kilian Catholic Church who was very active in the choir and ladies aide. She enjoyed her time as activity director at the Hartford Care Center for about 10 years. Among being a great caretaker for her family, she will be remembered for her love and excellence in gardening, cooking, and baking. Well into her 90’s she was still completing crossword puzzles and puzzles.

 

Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Robert (Kay) Lackas of Manitowish Waters, Michael Lackas (Mary Hoehne) of Wauwatosa, and Mary Anne (Robert) Lieven of Mequon; cherished grandchildren,  Stacy Hammes of Arbor Vitae, Zachary of Jackson, Benjamin of Milwaukee, and Sara Lieven of Broomfield, CO; great-grandchildren,  Adam and Lorraine Hammes; dear sister, Freida Hauser. She is further survived by many other wonderful relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law, her brothers, Erwin, John, and Clarence Kaehny; sisters, Marie Hennes, Anita Kieckhafer, and Sister Fidelis (Clara Emma) Kaehny, and several siblings-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial for Lorraine will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 5:30 p .m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, 264 W. State Street, Hartford, with Fr. David LaPlante officiating.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the church from 3:30p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Kilian Catholic Church appreciated.

Interment will take place following Mass at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
