Obit: Lorraine Mary Merten, 92, of Slinger

April 19, 2017 – Slinger, WI – Lorraine Mary Merten, age 92, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Autumn Oaks in Slinger.  She was born on August 31, 1924 in Slinger to the late Peter and Clara (nee Schaefer).  She lived at St. Catherine’s Residence for Working Women as she began her career in Milwaukee spanning 30 years as a private secretary.

She enjoyed music, dancing to polka, knitting, crocheting and she was an excellent cook.  Lorraine was a very spiritual woman and especially for the Virgin Mary.  She was active in the Schoenstadt Sisters Order.

Lorraine is survived by her loving brother Joseph Merten and cherished cousin Elaine (Marshall) Finck.  She is further survived by many other relatives and dear friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at noon at St. Peter Catholic Church (200 E Washington St, Slinger) with Fr. Richard Stoffel presiding.  The Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, April 21st from 9:30 AM until 11:45 AM.  Interment will take place at Old St. Peter Cemetery following the Mass.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Building Fund (208 E Washington St., Slinger, WI  53086).
