Obit: Marceline P. Phillip, 87, West Bend

Nov. 19, 2016 – Marceline P. “Pat” Phillip (nee Knuth), age 87 years of West Bend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

Pat was born on June 23, 1929 in Milwaukee to Paul and Marie (nee Finger) Knuth.   She attended Custer High School, class of 1947.  Pat married Jean A. Phillip on March 1, 1952 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Milwaukee.  Pat worked at Winkie’s Variety of Milwaukee, a secretary at the Milwaukee Transport Co. of Milwaukee and later a secretary for Marine Bank in Milwaukee.  They raised their family in Milwaukee and later moved to Little Green Lake in West Bend.  Pat enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, fishing, deer hunting (holds the record for the largest deer up north), instigator of many food fights, creator of words (foo foos, putt-chee-ing, hoof-in-doofers, bag-a-rou-nees) and a lady of many shenanigans.  She loved others by living a sense of duty, responsibility and dignity.  She didn’t hesitate to show love by serving her family, her friends, and her community through church.  Her age was never a limit to anything she put her mind to, from teaching crocheting to jet skiing at the age of 71 and a fantastic example of how to celebrate life.  Most of all she loved spending time her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Pat was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, ladies aide, choir and a current member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of West Bend.

Pat is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jean A. Phillip, children Linda (Kenneth) Prahl, James (Ann), Thomas (Claudia), Carol (Edwin “Buck”) Post, Paula (Mark) Weimer.  She is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, sister Geraldine (Owen) Beem, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas Dale Knuth.

A Funeral Service for Pat will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Phillip Funeral Home chapel of West Bend with Rev. Jeff Dorth presiding.  Interment will take place at Cedar Creek Cemetery in West Bend.  Visitation will be on Monday, November 21 at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until time of service (7:00pm).  Memorials are appreciated to the St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend, WI 53095) or Alzheimer’s Association (620 S. 76th St., Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214).

A Special Thank You to Dr. Gary Herdrich and all the staff at Samaritan Health and Rehab., especially the 3rd floor staff for all their loving care of mom.

  1. Our deepest sympathies to your family. Pat was such a sweet person . I remember her sense of humor at many of the lake get together s. She lived a great full life and left many happy memories for all of you, hold them in your heart~
