Obit: Mary Jane McCrackin, 80 Town of Erin

Mary Jane McCrackin (nee Tennies), 80, of the Town of Erin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Majestic Heights in Hartford on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

She was born November 18, 1935 in the Hartford to Joseph and Alice (nee Katzfey) Tennies. Mary was united in marriage to Rollie McCrackin on April 13, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Church in the Town of Erin.

Mary did a wonderful job and devoted her life to raising her 5 daughters Lou Ann (Tony) Peters of Lomira, Teresa McCrackin of Menomonee Falls, Heidi McCrackin of Hartford, Christine (Jim) Miller of Hartford, and Laura (Jim) Gilson of Illinois.

Throughout her life, Mary entertained many family and friends with her unique ability to play accordion and piano. Everyone felt welcome and at home when visiting her. Mary touched everyone she met by her kindness and sense of humor. Mary loved her birds, flowers, “Nita” and her very special cocker spaniel “Lady”.

She will be sadly missed by her 5 daughters; her grandchildren, Jeremiah (Jenny), Joshua, and Jesse Peters, Jimmy (Jennifer) Miller, Rachel (Dave) Young, Damian Farry, Brandon and Austin Gilson; 8 great grandchildren Gavin, Alexandria, Logan, Harmony, Jayce, Mason, Xavier, and luckily Mary got to meet her special great-grand-daughter Aylvia Jane; her sisters Skip Christenson and Betty Peplinski and a brother Frank (Grace) Tennies.

Mary is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rollie in 2009, her 2 brothers Josie and Jerome, brothers in-law Darwin Christenson, Ray Peplinski and her sister in-law Vivian Tennies.

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford, Wisconsin. Visitation will be on Saturday at the Shimon Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the town of Erin.

In Lieu of flowers memorials to the Diabetes Association are appreciated.

The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice. The family also extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Majestic Heights for all of their love and care.
