Obit: Myrtle L. Hassinger, 94, West Bend

Myrtle L. Hassinger (nee Soyk), age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Kathy Hospice in West Bend.  She was born on July 11, 1922 to Albert and Louise (nee Viestadt) Soyk.

On September 11, 1943 Myrtle devoted her love and her life to Walter J. Hassinger at St. John’s Church in West Bend.  After marriage, the couple began a family of their own that they raised on the family farm.  Myrtle was able to reside on this family farm her entire life.

Myrtle worked at the Amity, member of the Loyal Daughters (Women’s Fellowship), helped prepare the chili supper at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Slinger, did embroidering, involved in quilting and everyone loved her home made recipes.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Slinger.  She especially enjoyed going to polka festivals and dancing in the loving arms of her husband Walter.

Myrtle is survived by her children Karen (Donald) Beine, James (Loren) Hassinger, Ken (Deborah) Hassinger, Jerry (special friend Deborah Jinkins) Hassinger; her cherished grandchildren Christine (Scot) Schneider, Cheri (Frank) Verhunce, Amy (Nate) Janz, Tracey, Jamie (Erica), Sara (Doug) Ney, Jeffrey, Madelyn, Jason (Brianna), Jacklyn, Jennifer (Jody) Stubbe, and Rebecca (Ben Boettcher) Hassinger; adored great-grandchildren Troy and Matthew Schneider, Hudson Hassinger, Damion, Dylan, Devon and Lacy Stubbe, Jemma Janz, Marshal Hassinger, Aubree Hassinger.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Myrtle is preceded in death by her loving and cherished husband Walter, brothers, sisters and all her in-laws.

A Funeral Service will be at 6:00PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. John’s UCC (520 W. Washington Street Slinger, WI 53086) with Pastor Gerald Schrankler presiding.  Visitation will be at THE CHURCH on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 3:00PM until 5:45PM.  Interment will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00AM at Diefenbach’s Cemetery (Arthur and NN).
