Obit: Robert C. “Bob” Bendixen, 90, of West Bend

Sept. 5, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Robert C. “Bob” Bendixen, 90, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Cottages at Cedar Run. He was born on February 2, 1927 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, the son of Chester and Marion Bendixen (nee Peters).

Bob married the love of his life, Gay Manders on June 29, 1963, in Milwaukee. They were blessed to have 39 years together.

Bob’s happiest times were spent boating, building models, racing RC cars, tinkering in his workshop and enjoying family, friends, and pets. It’s a lucky man that gets to appreciate 30 years of retirement.

Professionally, Bob loved to work with cars and through a few jobs he arrived at a 32-year career with General Motors as a Research & Development Instructor. As a young man of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. He served state-side as an aviation machinist mate for NATS (Naval Air Transport Services). As a Seaman 1st Class, he was honorably discharged in August 1946.

Those Bob leaves behind to cherish in his memory are his daughter Carrie Lloyd with husband Rob and their son Justin; his son Chuck with wife Lia and their daughters Nina, Nicole, and Katie along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay, his parents, his step-mom Antoniette Bendixen, and his sister Betty Bendixen.

A memorial service in remembrance of Bob will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St. West Bend, WI. 53095. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family appreciates your donation to Cedar Community Foundation Hospice Program or Washington County Humane Society.
