Obit: Sharon Lutz (Spaeth), 55, of West Bend

Jan. 9, 2018 – West Bend, WI – Sharon Ann Lutz (Spaeth), devoted and selfless mom, wife, sister, daughter, loyal friend and steadfast volunteer passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer on Sunday, January 7, 2018 with her family by her side.

Sherry was born August 11, 1962 to Jerome and Diane Spaeth in West Bend, WI. She graduated from St. Frances Cabrini, West Bend West High School and earned her BA degree from UW-Whitewater. She married Dr. Jeff Lutz in West Bend on July 23, 1993 and together they raised an ambitious and spirited family through faith, discipline and endearing love.

Sherry loved being a mom, spending family time at Lake Arrowhead, playing tennis (including state league nationals!), golf, softball, avidly reading, cribbage, crossword puzzles, supporting her kids’ many endeavors and touching the lives of others. Her soft-spoken manner and patience were always understood by those she coached and encouraged. Her generosity knew no bounds. She welcomed anyone who came through her door with her sharing of fantastic meals, baked goodies, endless energy and engaging smile. She enjoyed travel, especially her recent trips to Arizona and Colorado with her family.

Sherry touched many in her local community through her tireless commitments as a parish council member, coaching volleyball, helping with school auctions, as a room and lunch mom, chaperoning field trips and helping whenever she could. She did all of this with her cherished smile.

Sherry is survived by her parents, her husband of 24 years, her children Jeremy, Riley (special friend Jichell), Natalie and Isabelle, her sisters Sandy Zellmer (Ted) Oshkosh WI, Shelley Hussey (Tim) Mequon WI, and Sara Katz (Jason), her stepson Tony Lutz (Laura) and step-grandchildren Max and Maggie. She is further survived by her mother and father-in-law Janice and Dr. Desire Thomas Lutz, sisters-in-law Chris Schleif (Kelly) Hortonville WI, Lynn Minsky (Craig) and Jeannie Wollner (Duane), brother-in-law Dr. Jim Lutz (Karen), and Diane Hron (Dr. John Hron), as well as by her much-loved nieces and nephews, other special aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Lorraine and Isadore Spaeth, Mary and Edward Czaja and Roland Rate.

Sherry will be remembered always and fondly by her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love of life, and her devotion to her faith, family and friends. She will be missed by many, including the students she worked with, her colleagues and patients at Lutz Chiropractic and members of the St. Frances Cabrini community.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will begin with visitation at St. Frances Cabrini Church in West Bend on Friday, January 12 from 2-6pm (rosary prayer service immediately following) and on Saturday from 10am-11:30am. Service and mass will immediately follow visitation on Saturday presided by Father Nathan Reesman.

Sherry’s family would like to thank the clinicians and doctors at Froedtert Cancer Center, the hospice nurses and staff at Horizon Hospice for their wonderful care, Fr. Nathan Reesman and the St. Frances Cabrini parish community and the many friends and family who have provided prayer, kind words, gifts of food and time and other support. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.

We will never know why God called you home so soon, but we are beyond blessed to have spent the years we did with you on this earth. Heaven has gained the most beautiful angel. Thank you for being our mom, our sister, our daughter, our angel, a loving wife and devoted friend. We love you… forever and always.
