Obit: Sylvia A. McNamara, 92, formerly of Eden

Sylvia Alice McNamara (nee Runge), 92, formerly of Eden went to her heavenly home on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born in Knowles on December 10, 1923, the daughter of William and Laura (nee Radloff) Runge.

Sylvia graduated as valedictorian from Lomira High School in 1940 and then graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College in 1944.  She taught Business Ed at Lomira High School and later at New Holstein High School.  She married Patrick McNamara on October 22, 1949 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

After her marriage, Sylvia took a job at Flood Oil Company in Eden and worked there for over 50 years.  She was well known in Eden as an excellent baker but most of all Sylvia enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sylvia is survived by 4 children:  Michael (Loula) of Fond du Lac, Robert (Debra) of Appleton, Timothy (Mary) of Fond du Lac and Ann McNamara of Fond du Lac, 11 grandchildren:  Shawn (Brandi) McNamara, Michelle (Jacob) Weiss, Tony (Clarissa) McNamara, Andy (April) McNamara, Kelly (Troy) Auchue, Tom (Amanda) McNamara,  Shannon (Tyler) Wehner, Katie McNamara (Harold Haney), Patrick (Leigh) McNamara, Laura (Chad) Nielsen and  Mathew Plummer (Justine Miller), 17 great grandchildren, a sister Vera (John) Dallmann, 4 sisters-in-law Johanna Runge, Marion “Toots” Runge, Alice Taylor and Betty Otten, a brother-in-law Sylvester “Skeeter” McNamara,  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Patrick on April 16, 2006 and her brothers:  Edward, Gerhard and Ray Runge, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John and Gordon McNamara, Lucille and Gene Stanchfield, Mabel Runge, Leo Otten, Glen Taylor and Ruth McNamara.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday July 25th, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street Fond du Lac.   Visitation will be at the Chapel from 1:00 PM until 3:45 PM with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden.
