Obit: Sylvia K. Schaefer

Sylvia K. Schaefer, 85, of Lomira, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Sylvia was born on October 11, 1930, in St. Kilian, the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Eilbes) Weiland. On January 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to Erwin Schaefer at St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian. Erwin preceded Sylvia in death on August 11, 2012.

Sylvia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary for the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Sylvia enjoyed the time she spent with her family, friends and neighbors.

Those Sylvia leaves behind to cherish her memory include 11 children, Betty (Harlow) Stork of Slinger, Joseph (Mary) Schaefer of Brownsville, Katherine McCollum of Frisco, Texas, Dorothy (Jeffery) Badke of Ponder, Texas, Irene (Lavern) Schmitz of Germantown, Carol (Roger) Billington of Mayville, Ann (Bruce) West of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Ellen (Gregg) Kramer of Hellertown, Pennsylvania, Brian Schaefer of Lomria, Sue Bisek of Lomira and Steve (Debbie) Schaefer of Lomira; a brother, Donald (Mary) Weiland of Colgate; two sisters, Helen McCarty of Campbellsport and Marilyn Brown of Dundee; six sisters-in-law, Mary Schaefer of Fond du Lac, Catherine (Curtis) Rauch of Le Roy, Geraldine (Joe) Feucht of Beaver Dam, Marlene Schaefer of Cedarburg, Mary Ann Schaefer of Lomira and Pauline (Emil) Ronning of Fond du Lac, 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rose Mary; two sons, Robert and Kenneth Schaefer; a son-in-law, Ronald “Bub” McCollum and an infant brother, Richard Weiland.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sylvia will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira with Father Michael Petersen officiating.

Sylvia’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Breast Cancer Awareness or to Agnesian Hospice Hope are appreciated.
