Obit: Thomas H. Werner, 90,

Sept. 13, 2018 – Thomas H. Werner “Tom” was called home to to eternal rest by our Lord and Savior on September 9, 2018 joining his wife LaVern and son Tom.
Tom was born December 27, 1927 in Marshall Wisconsin. Later his family moved to Milwaukee. He graduated from Boys Technical High School.
Then served an apprenticeship at the Milwaukee Railroad becoming a machinist. He served in the army from February 1946 to August 1947 Tom was a talented baseball player and was selected to play 3rd base on the Army baseball team. One of his comments when talking about the army was “when he was drafted all his friends were issued guns he got a baseball bat.”
Tom returned to the railroad and pursued a career in auto body work. Opening his own business “Tom’s Auto Body” and met the love of his life LaVern Miller.
Tom and LaVern were married June 2, 1949.
They had 3 children Tom, Verna and Gary.
Vacation time was always enjoyed on Lake Namekagon in Cable Wisconsin where his father had a cabin and later retired to. After his father passed his passion for fishing continued. He bought a boat named it after his first grandchild “The Stephanie” and fished Lake Michigan. He was a member of the Great Lakes Sport Fisherman Ozaukee Chapter. He participated in taking out disabled veterans fishing.
Tom had a good life enjoying his time with LaVern traveling, and taking cruises, annual fly in Canada fishing adventure, and of course watching the Brewers and Packers.
Those left to cherish memories of Tom include his Daughter Verna (Paul) Reindl, son Gary (Danielle) Werner, son Tom (deceased) daughter in law Liz Speath-Werner. Grandchildren Stephanie Parish, Nadalie (Victor) Walsh, Zach (Helen) Werner, Ben Werner, Nick Werner, Craig (Pooja) Werner, and Jenna (Garrett) Brugger. Great grandchildren Owen and Anna Parish. Aiden, Ireland and Valient Walsh. William and Hugo Werner. Peter Werner. Siblings Ed, Jane, and Nancy.
Tom was preceded in breath by his beloved wife LaVern, son Tom, twin great-grandsons Holden and Theodore, parents Fred and Norma, sister Gladys and brother Harry.
Per Tom’s wishes he will be cremated.
There will be a private family gathering of prayers and military honors. Then the family will greet relatives and friends at 4:00 at the VFW hall 630 Sand Drive, West Bend Wi for a celebration of his life. Food and beverages will be provided.
Thank you to everyone at the Clements Zoblocki Veterans Hospital, the Cedar Home and Hospice for their care and comfort.
Phillips funeral home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers donations will be used for a memorial yet to be determined.
