Obit: Thomas P. Hug,76, of West Bend

Sept. 5, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Thomas P. Hug of West Bend died on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 76 years. He was born on February 14, 1941 in Milwaukee to the late Henry and Louise (nee Dekowski) Hug.

He attended school in Milwaukee. After graduating from the former Notre Dame High School, he served in the United States Army Reserves.  Following his discharge, he returned to Wisconsin and went on to Spencerian Business College, studying accounting.

For more than 20 years, he worked for Pabst Brewing Company. He worked at the Peoria office, and later was transferred back to Milwaukee, where he was the Milwaukee Division controller.

On February 23, 2003, he was united in marriage to Karan (nee Miller) Deschaine at Woodland Church in Milwaukee.

Over the years, he played sheepshead and golf, was a passionate Packer fan and enjoyed a good glass of beer. For the past 14 years, he and his wife Karan spent their winters in Arizona.

Survivors include his wife Karan; 2 daughters; Melissa (William) Brousseau of Glendale and Laura Hug of Seattle, WA; 2 step-children Teri (Frank Mueller) Nies of Brookfield and Jeffrey (Kandi) Deschaine of Oak Creek; 6 grandchildren: Alexandra (Jason) Smathers, Connor-John Brousseau, Quinn Brousseau, Gabrielle Brousseau, Tania Nies and Jesse (Jackie) Nies; 3 great-grandchildren: William Smathers and Maci and Selena Nies; 1 sister Diane (Robert) Kellner of Friendship; 1 sister-in-law Shirley Hug, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Hank (Patricia), Gordon and Richard (Ruth) and 1 sister Lois (George) Christie.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend with Rev. John Paustian officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 until 2:45 p.m.
