Thomas S. Schmitz, age 55 of Waupun, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on April 13, 1961 in Milwaukee to Gerald and Carol (nee Braun) Schmitz. He was united in marriage to Kim Bailey on November 5, 1993.

Tom was a true outdoorsman.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman; no matter the time of year.  He always enjoyed being in the great outdoors, whether he was just taking a motorcycle ride or going for a short camping trip.  There were very few things he loved more than family, and always welcomed the opportunity to entertain family and friends while manning the grill.

Tom worked at Quad Graphics for over 30 years and came to be known and respected by many.  He started in Sussex, later transferred to Hartford, and spent his last years in the Lomira plant.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim; children, Heather (Josh) Gillam, Holly Schmitz (fiancé R. J. Ainsworth), Scot Schmitz, and Heather Prokopek (fiancé Chris Hayward), proud grandfather to Zooey and Ender. His father Gerald Schmitz, brothers, Daniel (Audrey) Schmitz, William (Mary) Schmitz, sister-in-law, Jacklyn Jankowski, parents-in-law, Maelene and Lymann Schultz. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his mother Carol Schmitz, and sister Mary Maseda.

A time of gathering for Tom will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St. Hartford, WI 53027).
