Obituary | Daniel C. “Dan” Kline, 67, of West Bend

January 7, 2020 – West Bend, WI –Daniel “Dan” C. Kline, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at his home in West Bend. He was 67. Dan was born in Detroit on March 23, 1952, to Daniel L. and Jeanne D. Kline (nee VanCamp). He attended Brown Deer High in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. He married Joanne (nee Kristaponis) on December 14, 1980, in Corvallis, Oregon.

Dan worked in a variety of fields, including as a sawyer, crisis counselor, manager of group homes for boys and the developmentally disabled, sales, insurance executive, IT network engineer, and software developer. He lived out his values through his life of service. He founded conservation organizations Friends of Lac Lawrann Conservancy and Friends of the Cedarburg Bog. He mentored students and young IT professionals, coordinated workplace giving for UPAF in Milwaukee, and volunteered with other conservation and community organizations. Dan was a kind and generous friend, a problem-solver, and an unfailing optimist.

Daniel is survived by his mother, his wife, his brother Van, his sisters Pamela and Deborah, his sons Jonathan (Anna) and Timothy (Christina), and his grandchildren Carinna, Thomas, and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his father.

The family would like to express appreciation to Cedar Community Hospice for their compassionate care of Dan and his family.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, January 16, at Lac Lawrann Conservancy, 300 Schmidt Road, West Bend, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Albrecht Free Clinic of Washington County.

The Myrhum Patten Funeral Home of West Bend is entrusted with arrangements.
