Obituary | Eugene ‘Gene’ Hoerth, 81, of Hartford

May 22, 2019 – Hartford, WI – Eugene “Gene” E. Hoerth, 81, of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford surrounded by his loving family.

Gene was born August 3, 1937 in WI to Benjamin and Esther (nee Wiegert) Hoerth. He was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Schoebel on May 9, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodland, WI.

Gene worked at Hartford Union High School in the maintenance department for over 35 years before retiring in 1995. Gene enjoyed going up north to Squaw Lake in Lac du Flambeau and fishing at many local lakes. He loved to travel, especially, to many different destinations around the united states and the world including Arizona, California, Florida, Germany and Austria. He also attended many Polka festivals in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Michigan.

He is survived by his loving wife Pat; daughter Barb (Randy) Wilcox; grandsons, Derek (Jaime), Dustin, and Dylan Wilcox. Brother Sylvester “Syl” (Erla) Hoerth and sister Jeanette “Sue” (Jerry) Grunewald; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Mary (Bob) Aufdermauer and Nancy Schoebel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Jack Schoebel.

Mass of Christian Burial for Gene will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 6 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church (W1170 Rome Road, Rubicon WI 53078) with Rev. David LaPlante officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 3 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
