Obituary | Herbert Alex Goeden of Georgia (formerly West Bend)

July 11, 2019 – West Bend, WI – In loving memory of Herbert Alex Goeden who passed away on June 30, 2019 at his home in Peachtree City, Georgia.  Herb was born to the late Walter and Isabel (nee Peters) Goeden in West Bend, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to the former Barbara Baumann on September 9, 1950.  Together they shared almost 64 loving years of marriage before Barbara’s passing on May 16, 2014.

He leaves behind a son Thomas Herbert Goeden and daughter-in-law Pamela Dawes Goeden; two grandchildren Amy Beth (Chris) Goeden Yarbrough and Michael Thomas (Kim) Goeden; two step granddaughters Sarah (Jack) Dawes Gray and Carolyn Dawes; four great grandsons Jacob and Ryan Yarbrough and Grayson and Kayson Goeden; and one step great granddaughter Oliva Dawes Gray.  He is also survived by his brother and sisters: Edward (Carol) Goeden of Barrington, IL, Mary Ann (Albert) Hupfer of West Bend and Joyce Schmidt of Kewaskum; 1 sister-in-law Margaret (Ralph) Goeden-Chapman of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers Fr. Earl Goeden, OFM, Richard Goeden and a brother-in-law Ralph Schmidt.

Herbert was a successful student as well as business man. While attending Marquette University he was the first person to discover the seventh layer of immersible liquids. He went on to receive a degree in chemistry from Marquette University. He had a distinguished business career highlighted with being a co-founder and owner of Conolite Corporation, a decorative plastic manufacturer.  He had many business friends across the world. Herbert was devoted to his church Holy Trinity, a Knight of Columbus, member of Kings Men, and greeter at mass on Sunday. He was a self-confident, strong, loving, caring man with a heart of gold.

He will be missed dearly by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Howard Haase presiding.  Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.  The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at church on Friday from 10 until 11:15 a.m.
