Obituary | William ‘Bill’ Grosskreuz, 92, of West Bend

April 26, 2019 – West Bend, WI – William “Bill” Grosskreuz, 92, of West Bend, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

Bill was born on December 26, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Henry and Selma (nee Bartelt) Grosskreuz.

Bill was a 1945 graduate of Boys Tech High School in Milwaukee. Bill spent time as a soldier in Korea during WWII and post war occupation. Upon returning home, he obtained his journeyman’s card in Tool and Die and spent over 30 years working for Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee as a machine repairman. He retired in May of 1986.

Bill was a generous, happy-go-lucky man.  He always had a story or humorous comment to make.  He loved to tinker, fix and build things and was always there to lend a helping hand.  He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and smoking cigars.

Those Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory include his former wife, Mary Grosskreuz; four children, Paul (Susan) Grosskreuz, Chris Grosskreuz, Renee Grosskreuz, Louise Grosskreuz; six grandchildren, Hannah (Jake), Daniel, Ben, Samuel, Timothy, and Jayden; and one great-granddaughter, Violet.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Laverne, brothers, Robert and Henry (Leona) and numerous cousins.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home (1315 W Washington St., West Bend, WI  53095) with Pastor Joseph Fisher officiating. Interment at Arlington Park Cemetery in Greenfield, WI with Pastor Chris Raffa officiating the following day.

Bill’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

Bill’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Samaritan Heath Center for the loving care they provided.
