One man killed in fatal traffic accident in Town of Addison | By Washington County Sheriff

 

 

August 17, 2018 – Town of Addison, WI – On August 17, 2018 at 3:42 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a passenger car vs. semi-truck crash on Interstate 41 approximately 1 mile north of Cty Tk K in the Township of Addison.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies along with rescue personnel from Allenton Fire and St. Lawrence Fire were dispatched to the scene.

An on-scene investigation shows the northbound passenger car, operated by a 37-year-old man from Menomonee Falls, crossed over the center median and into southbound traffic on Interstate 41.

The passenger car struck the driver’s side of the semi-truck and continued under the semi-truck’s trailer, where it struck the tandem axle, causing the axle to become dislodged from trailer.

The operator of the passenger car suffered fatal injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured.

Assistance with traffic direction and signage was requested from Wisconsin State Patrol, Slinger Police Department, West Bend Police Department and the Washington County Highway Department.

Southbound traffic on Interstate 41 between Hy 33 and Cty Tk K, was shut down for 7 hours to facilitate investigative and clean-up efforts.

At this time the name of the deceased is not being released pending the notification of his next of kin and this accident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.  This is the 8th traffic fatality of the year in Washington County.
