August 3, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Students from Aisho-cho, Japan arrived to a warm welcome in West Bend on Wednesday afternoon. Host families attended a brief ceremony at Lac Lawrann before being introduced to the student they’d be ‘adopting’ for the week.

The city of West Bend has been hosting students from Japan since the program started in 1994. Throughout the week the families will show students a family lifestyle and American culture with some going to Brewers baseball games or the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame. Others will take a more laid-back approach and simply take the kids

fishing or on a family outing to Music on Main.

WashingtonCountyInsider.com will be following along and posting photos submitted by host families. To see more photos and videos of the welcome ceremony click HERE.

  1. My wife is from Japan but lives here in West Bend. If any of the host families run into serious language barriers, my wife and I would be willing to help. I lived in Japan for seven years and can speak Japanese on a conversational level. My phone number is in the book. Feel free to contact us if you need help.
